Snarkscorn let us go, but confiscated my heavy shield and the religious relics we had acquired from the abbey. We needed the money from selling those; the crookhorns won’t do anything with them except desecrate them. St Clewd means nothing to me, but the money would have. He also claimed a prize from each of us, and offered to return it if we completed a task. There would be gold in it for us as well, 1000gp each. But the mission was to kidnap a local noble, Lady Harold, and bring her to his camp alive. None of us were enthusiastic about that, but perhaps we can find a way to double-cross the crookhorns.

When we finally gave Snarkscorn our parole in return for a promise to consider the unpleasant task he set us, it was midsummer. I was concerned by what I hbad learned about the pillar of Ambule, and the recurring dreams, so I sought out local druids and rangers to make inquiries. While asking around, I heard rumors about a chaos gate at the abbey of St Clewd. Wored of that situation was spreading, it seems.

The news caused a schism within the Pluritine Church, with a fanatic faction demanding that Something be Done Promptly. That seemed like a situation that might come back to bite us, if anyone looked too closely at how the situation deteriorated from its long stasis.

I did obtain more information about Ambule. He is a potbellied, red-clay figure with a single hexagonal eye, worshipped in northern Dolmenwood and known for granting protection and good fortune. Those who pledge to him dreams of being consumed by the earth nightly, and the dreams seem to align with the lunar cycles of the red moon. He offers protection from curses (+2 to saves) to his followers. Any manifestation would be far below the earth. The pillar of Ambule represents a binding contract; no one knows what he wants, at least not among the rangers, though some suggested only the dead know. u-Heury and I will need to speak with a dead worshipper of Ambule for more details. We can look up names on the pillar and make local inquiries with a bottle of the hag’s graveyard whiskey.

The fall brought rumors of a magical plague near Helix, with animal zombies. Why is it always undead in Helix?

Oscar invested in paisley cloaks, but failed to make more than petty cash.

The church schism resolved itself, with a new leader Sanctus Primus in charge who wishes to retake the abbey. Sanctus has called for an inquisition to root out hags and other supernatural creatures.
